Social Sculpture Simulator is a 360° video channel that documents social sculptures performed in public spaces. Initially installed as a virtual reality headset, the project remains accessible via direct link and QR code.

The original social sculptures were created as physical and social experiences that placed two participants in close and unusual proximity to another body. The material nature of the objects served to facilitate and ease the closeness, while the duration of the works heightened the potential for discomfort. The video archive replaces the second participant with a camera - a virtual placeholder. This simulation of tactile sensation and social interaction is both an exploration of the potential of virtual reality, and a critique of its promise of total immersion.
